The business context
The business needed a workable ecosystem for learning delivery, campaigns and follow-up, without committing to a large new CRM or ERP investment. I assessed platform fit against the actual requirements and budget. The decision was to procure capabilities the team could use together rather than buy a more expansive system than the operating need justified.
The decisions I made
Evaluate the workflow before the platform
I considered learning delivery, email activity and journey automation as connected requirements. Other platforms were assessed against the same needs; this was a contextual purchasing decision, not a general vendor ranking.
Choose an ecosystem that matched the need
TrainerCentral supported learning delivery. Zoho Campaigns supported email activity, and Zoho Marketing Automation added journey-workflow capability. I introduced the approach and guided how the components could support the wider operating model.
Negotiate and stage adoption
I handled pricing discussions and negotiations. Procurement and adoption progressed by capability, keeping budget and usable scope central to the decision rather than treating every available feature as an immediate requirement.
How I led delivery
I led selection and commercial discussions, introduced the learning platform and directed workflow requirements. Team members configured and executed campaign assets under that direction. A live contest email journey sent registration confirmation and supporting information, with subsequent communication based on engagement. WhatsApp integration has been completed and tested. The India-focused cohort follow-up journey remains planned and has not been deployed.

What changed
Connected capabilities procured
Learning delivery, email campaigns and journey automation were brought into the chosen ecosystem.

The contest registration flow included confirmation, brochure access and subsequent communication.
Commercial ownership demonstrated
I led pricing discussions and the fit-to-budget recommendation.
The leadership lesson
MarTech leadership is deciding what the business needs, what the team can operate and what the budget can sustain. A smaller, usable ecosystem can be a stronger choice than unnecessary scope.
